This is a Combination of the Side KX left end with a Pro Audio Engineering Kx22 Heat Sink right end panel to integrate with the Side KX Poly-Carbonate Cover for your Elecraft KX2
In collaboration with Howard Hoyt at ProAudio Engineering, this heat-sink, the PAE-Kx22 was designed to allow extended transmit time at the KX2’s full-power settings, which is especially useful while using digital modes.
No passive heat sink can allow unlimited key-down time on the KX2,
however, the heat-sink for the KX2 has been engineered using thermal CAD
modeling techniques as well as KX2 transmit testing for maximum
performance with a minimum of increase in overall size. This is the
heat-sink of choice for those who want enhanced transmit time and
still retain low weight and size, and it is the absolute maximum footprint with minimum mass.
This allows the KX2 user to retain the portability which is the prime reason Elecraft
designed the KX2. With this in mind it has been engineered to be
fully compatible with the KX2 Cover and Mounting Cradle.

Elecraft has had to make a change the power amplifiers (PA’s) on the right end of the KX2, due to sourcing issues. There are now three versions of PA’s where you will be mounting the right end panel. Original KX2’s from serial number 0016 through 5417 are robust and the installation instructions are straight forward. These will use the thermal pads from the factory end panelKX2’s with serial numbers 5417-5441 have a very delicate and different version PA’s and will require special handling to be done by either Pro Audio Engineering or Elecraft Certified Repair from Dave Wallaghen for upgraded installation due to this delicate version. Please contact them here for more information on these serial numbers:

Received the parcel today I’ve installed the KX2 Heat Sink (Complete Set) immediately. I had only to twiddle with the screws, nuts and washers to refix the PA transistors. But it can be done with a little bit patience.The quality of all parts ist outstanding.Thank you!

I’ve had this product for a while (month and a half) and the reason it has taken me so long to write a review is I wanted to test the product for its durability and practicality. Installation was a breeze and the KX2 heat sink end even came with pre installed 3M pads and copper strip (KX2-MODKT-HS), this made it so much easier so you didn’t have to mess with the existing items from the factory installed KX2 end. The fit and finish for both ends and cover are excellent, though I have to mention that the heatsink side is different in texture and does not match. It is smoother and not textured like the KX2 and the other end (mic, phone, and ACC side). The heatsink side allows any BNC adapter to fit without hindrance of operation, including BNC binding post adapters and the Elecraft AX1 antenna using a BNC elbow adapter. With everything installed on the KX2, it still fits nicely in the Elecraft ES60 padded case included in the KX2 shack in the box. I am normally a portable operator supporting Parks on the Air and Summits on the Air and I am absolutely satisfied with this purchase. I know that no matter where I am, the panels and cover will keep my KX2 safe until I reach my destination. Customer service is excellent, I was surprised that Scott Bastian was very responsive to my questions, emails, and any discrepancies; more companies should take note from this entrepreneur! I had an initial issue with ordering and he got right on it and made everything right! He even included a KX2 paddle port cover for the trouble. Shipping was extremely fast and packaging was excellent. The bottom line is, I highly recommend purchasing these if you plan on portable operations!

I ordered my own Elecraft KX2 a few months back and accidentally ordered a similar competitor’s product, Reading over the instructions, I realized it was inferior to the Side KX. I immediately ordered a KX2 Heat Sink (Complete set with Both ends and Cover) along with a tall leg. Everything from the: ordering, shipping, product quality, and the instructions were far superior. My wife and I are learning Morse Code. We just decided to buy another Elecraft KX2 along with a set of Begali Keys in order to each have our own SOTA/POTA transceiver. We immediately ordered her a the same Side KX accessories. If you are going to spend the money for one of the finest ultralight transceivers you truly should not compromise with the protective cover. Finally, I also ordered the E770002 KX2 BNC RF Cable Assembly right off the bat to make sure there was no chance of a problem with the assembly process. Brenda (KX2CWB) and John (KX2CWJ).
