Description
At the request of many, I have designed a new additional leg for the KX2. The factory leg is short, to allow the use of the KXPD2 Keyer, thus limiting the height of a tilted radio. I like many, do not use the KXPD2 and the limited height of the tilt makes for difficult viewing of the LCD screen and labels on the radio buttons and knobs. I made the new leg .865 inches longer. This new leg is placed on the KX2 using the factory thumb and sits atop the factory leg. This allows the use of either leg giving the user a choice of heights! This leg is made of aluminum and is powder coated to match the factory finish.
This leg is .865″ longer or just over 3/4 of an inch taller.
Please note there is a star washer atop the factory leg, be mindful not to lose this when removing the thumbscrew.

The new KX2 Tall Back Leg attaches above the factory leg and provides the option of much better inclination of the KX2 for easier viewing. As indicated in its description, the Tall Back l Leg will not allow use of the KXPD2 paddle due to the bottom corners of the paddles touching the desk. However, I found that it works beautifully when using my Begali Adventure Paddle with its angled attachment plate. In short, a very useful addition to my KX2.

The longer leg sets the radio at a perfect angle for use with my Palm Radio pico paddles mounted to the radio !

Today I received the KX2 tall leg. It fit the rig perfectly, was a snap to install, and matches the rig as if it was a factory manufactured product. You are also able to retain the original factory shorter leg. It is now easier to view the entire front display. This product is definitely worth the money. Scott is a great communicator and responds promptly to all emails. I am totally satisfied with my purchase, and highly recommend both the company and the product.

Just received the extended leg and it works great. The fact that you can still utilize the Elecraft’s OEM leg is a bonus. Also, the finish is a perfect match, the bend in the metal to fold to the KX2’s body to lock it in when not in use , to the rubber foot. It looks like Elecraft made it themselves. Just great!
